ARCHIVED PAGE – Equestrian Training

Touchstone offers Equestrian Training to both Canadian and foreign students 14 years and over who have previous riding or farm experience. Our goal is to teach participants all aspects of the equine industry.

A large scale breeding and training farm with over 150 Warmblood horses, we have three Stallions, Bajazzo, Beau Soleil, and our latest addition, Beach Boy, standing at stud and a large mare herd. All of our breeding is done through collection and artificial insemination.

The breeding season is from mid-May to mid-August and the foaling season is from mid-April to mid-July. We hold an annual Warmblood Breed Show on the farm. Students involved in Equestrian Training are given the opportunity to gain hands-on, practical experience in breeding, foaling, training, grooming and riding, as well as farm maintenance and management.

There is a minimum stay of two weeks. Short term students (2 weeks to 2 months) are accepted from age 14 years and up. Longer term (6 weeks to 6 months) must be 16 years or older.

This training is ideal for practical experience towards university or college degrees. Equestrian Training at Touchstone Farm can provide a valuable reference for entrance to Equine College Study Programs. Foreign students can also improve English language skills and meet people from other countries. In the past, students of all ages have come from Sweden, Germany, France, Austria, Mexico, Chile and all across Canada. Fees apply and some scholarships are available.
